What is the Information Standard?
The Information Standard scheme is run by NHS England and is designed to help the public identify trustworthy health and social care information easily.
CLIC Sargent chose to apply to be a member of the Information Standard because we know there’s a huge amount of cancer-related health and social care information available – some reliable, some not. We want children and young people and their families and friends to know that our information is reliable and trustworthy.
To become certified, we have proved that we have processes in place to make sure our health and social care information is accurate, accessible, impartial, balanced and well-written.
Now that we are certified, we can put the Information Standard quality mark (logo) on our information material. This shows the reader that the information is trustworthy and reliable.
What CLIC Sargent information material is covered by the Information Standard?
The scope of our accreditation covers all of our health and social care information in the form of booklets, leaflets, information sheets, DVDs and other audiovisual resources, and some sections of our website. User-generated information is excluded from the scope of certification: weblogs, forums and personal experience pages – except where personal experience pages have been produced through a systematic process of validation.
Healthcare information is any resource designed to help the reader understand the clinical side of cancer (eg treatment, side effects, long-term effects) and the options available to them, and to help them make choices regarding these.
Social care information is any material designed to help the reader understand how cancer might affect other areas of their life (eg school, work, social life, finances) and the options available to them, and to help them make choices regarding these.
Printed and online materials which have been produced since CLIC Sargent has become a certified member carries the Information Standard logo.
