We are delighted to announce Manchester’s first concert of 2018 in support of CLIC Sargent. This follows the success of the performance of Verdi's Requiem in January 2016 which raised over £10,000 for CLIC Sargent.
Originally written in German, this performance of Brahms' Requiem will be in English, and is being organised by Penny, one of the CLIC Sargent Singers.
Sections of the music are very well known and there are some fantastic tunes. It is scored for orchestra, choir and soloists. Like Verdi's Requiem, this is a project involving MGS boys, parents and staff and professional and amateur players and singers from across the Manchester area.
Tickets priced £2 – £13 are available online from The Manchester Grammar School.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Joe Burns said: “This promises to be a truly special event celebrating music and supporting the work that CLIC Sargent does, experienced first hand by the organiser Penny.”

Penny said: “We began our concerts when my son Joe was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma aged 15 in 1996.
"After successful treatment he became ill with secondary leukaemia and sadly died in 1999, just after his 18th birthday. Our family, Joe in particular, received tremendous support from CLIC Sargent both at the Young Oncology Unit in The Christie in Manchester, and at home.
"It is impossible to describe the huge part the CLIC Sargent Social Workers played in our mental and physical survival."
"Joe played the trombone and was planning to study music at university. We were so grateful for all the help and encouragement Joe had received throughout his treatment.
"We wanted to help other young cancer patients so we began a new journey together with Manchester Grammar School, where Joe was a pupil."
