Nine year old, Rhionna who was diagnosed with cancer aged five, walked the entire 13 mile course determined to push through all the barriers and finish the walk.
Everyone from the group of 50 walkers, including Rhionna, completed the hike and raised an incredible £10,000 for children and young people with cancer and their families.
CLIC Sargent fundraising manager, Richard Donald says: “Thank you so much to everyone that was involved. For such a small group to raise so much in sponsorship was staggering. The weather was changeable as well, which caused a challenge but didn’t seem to deter any of the walkers who all did fantastically well, especially Rhionna who despite illness finished the walk.”
Thank you to the local Loch Katrine authorities for making the event possible, Barr Soft Drinks for supplying refreshments, Raynet Communications, The Glasgow Hillwalking Club who acted as marshals for the day and the events main sponsor, The Greggs Foundation.
A special thank you also to Loch Katrine residents, Jan and Gordon Young who at the 10 mile mark, had set out a gazebo with coffee, cake, juice and even wine for all the walkers, a perfect tonic at such a crucial stage.
