CLIC Sargent team celebrate a huge £4million boost thanks to funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Sarah Colberg, Lead Account Manager for CLIC Sargent said:

“This is just an incredible amount of money, which will make a huge difference to many young lives affected by cancer."

“We know that for many families when the doctor says ‘it’s cancer’, normal life stops. They often have to embark on lengthy, gruelling treatment, which can have so many major impacts, outside just their health.

“We rely entirely on finding like this to keep providing vital support, including the work of our social care and nursing professionals, our free accommodation Homes from Home and financial grants. We can’t thank players of People’s Postcode Lottery enough.”

Helping Charlie

The money raised will help young patients like Charlie Stevens. Charlie, aged six, from Buckhaven, was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was just two and half years old.

His mother Evonne said: “When you hear that your child has cancer you are just stuck. You just think ‘What can I do? What did he do? Why did this happen?”

The family were supported by a CLIC Sargent social worker and also were able to stay at CLIC Villa, the charity’s Home from Home which provides free accommodation for young patients and families, saving them from regular travel.

Evonne added: “The money raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery is fantastic. I’m sure it will mean a lot to the children and families going through this horrible disease. The help and support from CLIC Sargent is overwhelming and we can’t thank them enough for what they did. We will never forget it.”

Providing vital support

Head of Charities at People's Postcode Lottery, Clara Govier, said: "We couldn’t be happier that our players are supporting a charity which provides such vital support to young cancer patients and their families.
