Annual tractor run raises £19,000

This June, 247 tractors left the Saltwater Brig, Newtownards and took to the roads around the splendid Ards Peninsula in support of CLIC Sargent and Action Cancer.

Annual tractor run raises £19,000

After the idyllic road run, farmers and spectators were invited back to Saltwater Brig in Newtownards for refreshments, dancing and the chance to win prizes.

The tractor run is in its fourth year and Inez Fowler, one of the volunteers who organised the event believes the event has grown hugely in popularity. Inez said: "We are overwhelmed to see the local support…. auction and raffle prizes where donated from all over the Peninsula."

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Fiona McCann said: "It was a tremendous evening and the amount raised is remarkable. A huge thank you to Saltwater Brig, the volunteers, the local businesses and community who helped to make the event such a great success and Irish TV who came along to capture this traditional tractor run."

What could this money do?

Last year CLIC Sargent supported more than 280 children and young people with cancer, and their families, from Northern Ireland. We gave nearly 200 grants, to a value of over £39,000, to help families deal with the financial impact of cancer.

£9,500 could pay for ten families to stay at one of our Homes from Home for a month, ensuring they are close to their child during treatment.
