The enthusiastic group chose CLIC Sargent as its charity of the year for 2015, in appreciation of the help it provided to local toddler Thomas Beaumont and his parents.
Claire Anderson, charity secretary, said: “I have known the family for some time and watched them cope through the ups and downs of Thomas’ treatments.
"However in time, the worst happened, there was nothing more that could be done for baby Thomas and he sadly died in May 2014.
Help and support
“I told the family that we wanted to raise money in memory of Thomas and they were touched.
"Thomas' parents suggested CLIC Sargent, explaining they were there from the very first moment of Thomas’ diagnosis, supporting them through his treatment and also after Thomas passed away.”
The group got straight to work with their fundraising, organising a number of events including a barn dance, selling over 200 tickets, and a summer garden party.
Claire added: “I was very touched by the work and support that CLIC Sargent gave the Beaumont family through what was as very difficult time.
“It’s fair to say the Young Farmers didn’t know much about CLIC Sargent when we began fundraising, but the support and genuine kindness the Young Farmers showed throughout has been overwhelming.
"I would also like to thank the local businesses for their tremendous support and sponsorship.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Andy Fuller said: “I wish to thank everyone involved over the past year, their commitment to the cause has been nothing short of amazing and we are all extremely grateful.
"Last year CLIC Sargent supported 138 families in Leicestershire, which is why the support of Market Bosworth Young Farmers is so important, as we rely solely on voluntary donations."
