Charity Sausage Sizzle in Southend raises over £1,000

The sun shone on Southend on Sea as the Willis family held their 'Sausage Sizzle' fundraising event in aid of CLIC Sargent.

The family was joined by family, friends and neighbours to help raise money for children and young people with cancer.

Sally Willis said: “We had lots of family and friends helping and supporting the event. My husband barbequed more than a 100 sausages, my daughter helped from beginning to end, along with her husband and even our little dog Ruby joined in the fun, she likes nothing better than lots of people to give her attention, and my Mum at the age of 83 years helped with the washing up.

"I would like to thank everyone for their support and Lottie & Jakes for their lovely cakes which always go down well, Meatline who let us purchase the sausages at cost, and my friend Fiona who was our photographer for the day.

"We all had great fun but at the same time we helped make a difference.”

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Karen Roberts said: “The Willis family has raised a fantastic £1130.55 from this event.

"If everyone turned their annual barbeque into a fundraising 'Sausage Sizzle', just think how much money could be raised for CLIC Sargent.”
