The head shave took place in the George Centre shopping complex. The ladies organised the Big Buzz event and throughout the morning sold cakes to the public to aid the fantastic fundraising day.
Having previously worked in a school, Helen Giddings decided to take part in the Big Buzz because she knows what children and young people experience when they lose their hair during cancer treatment.
She said: "I worked in a school for nearly 11 years before joining Sequence and I’ve spoken with many kids who are embarrassed and scared about losing their hair.
"Once I knew that Sequence’s partnership charity was CLIC Sargent I had no hesitation in going ahead with the event."
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Lucia Martinez said: ‘’On behalf of CLIC Sargent, I would like to say an enormous thank you to Helen and her close friend for their support. I also commend both of you for such bravery in shaving your heads.’’
"Everyday 10 families in the UK hear the devastating news that their child has cancer. CLIC Sargent is the only charity offering support every single step of the way. We are hugely thankful for these fundraising efforts, to help us to continue this support’’
