On Friday 25 May, 20 cyclists from CLIC Sargent corporate partner, Julius Baer will depart from St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
Their goal is to arrive in Zurich, Switzerland just seven days later on Friday 1 June, having raised £100,000 for The Shaw Mind Foundation and CLIC Sargent.
James Corry at Julius Baer said: “From an early age CLIC Sargent has been close to my heart. Cycling from John O’Groats to Lands’ End 16 years ago with a close friend who was in partial remission from cancer, always will be one of the most poignant moments in my life.
“Will and his parents were expertly and professionally cared for by the family at CLIC and I’m pleased to say, 16 years on he is fighting fit, was an usher at my wedding and has a family of four himself, combining his headmastership with continuous adventure."
“As life moves on, more and more people are directly and indirectly affected by this dreadful disease and the work CLIC Sargent does is second to none. Our ride will certainly bring back memories but it’s an opportunity to look forward as well and raise both awareness and money to help others like Will.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Engagement Manager Charlie Straker said: “A childhood cancer diagnosis is devastating. It’s a time of fear, anxiety and confusion for young cancer patients and their families.
“With the support of companies like Julius Baer and these 20 incredible individuals, CLIC Sargent can help more young cancer patients, like Will, and their families get their lives back on track.
“I know the team is training hard for this event and would appreciate any donations that can be spared. They will be riding over 1,000km and climbing over 9,500m, so they definitely deserve as much support as possible!"
