Colchester Forum Rotary Club President supports children and young people with cancer

Ongoing CLIC Sargent supporters from the Colchester Forum Rotary Club have so far raised £2,500 for the charity during a year of fundraising.

Each year the President of Colchester Forum Rotary Club selects charities to benefit from its fundraising throughout their year of office. Peter Hill, the current President, very kindly chose CLIC Sargent.

This isn't the first time members have supported the charity - John Russell, the President in 2001/2, not only fundraised for CLIC Sargent, but also set up the Colchester & Tendring Fundraising Group who still fundraise for CLIC Sargent.

Over the years the Rotary Club members have walked, cycled, barbecued, stood in the cold with collection buckets, to name but a few things to help raise invaluable funds.

CLIC Sargent Area Fundraising Manager Karen Roberts recently attended the club lunch and was delighted to receive a cheque from Peter for £2,500 - and there will be more to come before the end of Peter's term of office.

She said: "We are extremely grateful for the continued support of Colchester Forum Rotary members, to Peter for choosing to support CLIC Sargent and to their friends and family who make the events they organise such a great success.

"I know Peter hopes to have raised at least £3,000 by the end of his term which will be fantastic."

Where will the money go?

In 2014 CLIC Sargent supported over 260 families in Essex alone. £2,275 could pay for a CLIC Sargent Play Specialist for a month so that they can help a child prepare for and cope with treatment by using models, toys and photos to explain what will happen. Learn more about how your money can help.
