Village transformed for charity soapbox derby

A small village in Derbyshire transformed for a day to host its first ever soapbox derby. Around 40 participants built and raced their own soapbox vehicles and in the process raised over £1,800  for CLIC Sargent.

The community turned out in force to cheer on those brave enough to race down Main Street in Scarcliffe.

They had to race over a very challenging speed bump to fly over the finish line with plenty of thrills and spills along the way.

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Andy Fuller said: “Everyone enjoyed the event and it was fantastic to be a part of it.

"The vehicles on show were amazing and you could see how much effort had gone into building them, everyone did great!"
