Celebrity acts raise funds for CLIC Sargent
Chris decided to organise the sell out event after his half cousin died of cancer just before Christmas. His cousin had been supported by CLIC Sargent at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
Chris managed to rope in a few of his famous friends to help out on the night including fellow comedian, Carl Hutchinson and Al Murray, Hebburn creator Jason Cook, Billy Mitchell from Lindisfarne, and surprise guest, Ed Sheeran! Chris kept this a secret until he introduced Ed to the stage, much to the delight of the audience.
Over £10,000 raised!
The event was held at the Customs House in South Shields, where Chris and his half cousin are from. Tickets were priced at just £20 for the amazing, once in a lifetime gig, but with a collection on the evening, managed to raise an incredible £10.454.30 and counting in support of children and young people with cancer.
"An incredible night which raised a significant amount for the charity, not only in money but also awareness."
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Dee Tyler said: ""It was an incredible night which no doubt raised a significant amount for the charity, not only in money but also awareness.
"Many thanks to Chris for organising the night, all the acts for getting involved and entertaining the crowd so wonderfully, the brave lady who shaved her head in the interval to raise extra money, the people who attended, the Customs House for giving the venue free of charge and everyone else involved.
“If anyone would like to show their support for Chris’s fantastic event, please make a donation via the website. If you would like to donate please be sure to make a comment about Chris Ramsey’s event so we can add your contribution to the fantastic amount raised.”
