Family and friends, along with staff and customers of Morrisons Strood, gathered to watch CLIC Sargent fundraiser Sally Bonathan have her head shaved to raise awareness and funds.
After collecting sponsorship and donations in the run up to her Big Buzz, the generosity of the public gave Sally an extra boost and with a massive smile on her face she sat down in the chair to have her hair braided before local hairdressers Lottie’s Locks chopped them off one by one.
After this, out came the electric shaver before Sally’s head was covered in shaving foam for a last razor shave. Sally remained beaming throughout, with not a question in her mind of why she was going through with the shave.
“I chose CLIC Sargent as it was a charity I learnt about after my sister’s friend Bernadette, who later became my friend, lost her son at the age of 21 to brain cancer.
"My son was the same age and I could not think of any thing worse to have to go through and learning about how CLIC Sargent help the whole family to me is a very important thing.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Engagement Manager Alex Drury said: "We are so appreciative of Sally for choosing to fundraise for CLIC Sargent by undertaking a head shave of such epic proportions.
"The atmosphere on the day was amazing and Sally’s hair was so long many didn’t believe it was real! The local community have been so generous and the money he raises will make such a difference to the children and young people we support, as well as their families."
