Ocean BMW's annual golf day raises over £1,500

Annual golf day

Ocean BMW hosted 18 teams who attended Torquay Golf Club for a ‘shot gun’ rules round of golf to raise money for young people with cancer.

Ocean Torbay BMW, which is based just outside of Paignton, has now held their golf day for three years running, raising a total of £4,324 for CLIC Sargent.

Gareth Watton, from Ocean BMW, said: "CLIC Sargent is a charity very close to our hearts and to know that our golf day will make a difference to families in the area is fantastic.

“Once again it has been a pleasure to be associated with CLIC Sargent and to help with the amazing work they do."

Thank you

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Jordan Anderton said: “CLIC Sargent is extremely grateful for the continuous support of Ocean BMW in Paignton. The money they have raised will make a huge difference to the families we support.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gareth Watton and everyone at Ocean BMW. You once again put on a fantastic event while supporting young people with cancer and their families. Thank you.”

Making a difference

The money they have raised could pay for a family to stay in one of CLIC Sargent’s Homes from Home for 46 days, providing free self-catering accommodation near to specialist children’s cancer treatment centres, which are often many miles from a family’s own home.

Staying in a Home from Home ensures a family can be close to their child during treatment. The atmosphere in a Home from Home is friendly and welcoming.

An average stay in a home from home is 23 days; therefore Ocean BMW donations could support two families to stay closer to their child during their treatment.
