LifeSearch held a fundraising evening in July as part of their ‘Family in Need’ drive, where staff and directors got involved and saw a percentage of the commission earned that day being donated to the charity.
The company chose to support the charity because of the support it gave to the nephew of Paula Bertram-Lax, the company’s Director of Client Advice, who sadly passed away from cancer earlier this year.
Paula Bertram-Lax, Director of Client Advice, at LifeSearch said:
"When my nephew Carter was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 16, our worlds changed overnight. CLIC Sargent gave our whole family much needed support and guidance on the practical things that are the last thing on your mind when you receive such devastating news."
“When Carter passed away in March this year, we asked for donations to be given to CLIC Sargent because we wanted to help ensure they can continue their great work. I’m incredibly proud and humbled that the staff at LifeSearch have chosen to support CLIC Sargent and have raised such a huge amount so that the charity can continue to provide amazing support to children and young people with cancer and their families."
Last year in Yorkshire, CLIC Sargent supported 556 families, giving out 397 financial grants to the value of £81,540 helping families to cope with the costs of cancer. The Cancer Costs report from the charity found that families with a child on active treatment spend an extra £600 a month.
Jenny Dixon, Fundraising Engagement Manager for North & West Yorkshire at CLIC Sargent, said:
“When cancer strikes young lives we fight tirelessly to limit the damage it causes beyond their health. We rely entirely on donations to fund our vital work and we can’t thank the LifeSearch heroes enough for their fantastic efforts.
