'The event I organised was called a 'Swishing Soirée'. The basic concept of it is a clothes swap party, this could be for women, men or children's clothing but I organised a ladies only party and promoted it to friends as a designer and top end high street event!
'I opted for selling tickets in advance for £10 - this also gave me a chance to collect any unwanted items of clothing and accessories from people purchasing tickets.
'Advertising is also key... my strapline was 'Get a whole new wardrobe for £10', it was really effective and worked amazingly well.
'I had 26 raffle items... the idea was to include a wide variety of prizes to suit all ages and guests. My main piece of advice when compiling the raffle is quite obvious – if you don't ask, you don't get!
'I had just over 60 attendees on the night which means £600 before we’ve even started ‘swishing’!
'On arrival guests were greeted with a Bucks Fizz and selection of canapés - I also included a cake sale and an extra game - guess how many items were donated in total, closest guess winning a bottle of Prosecco.'
Esme’s ‘Swishing Soiree’ raised a fantastic £1,472 putting her well on the way to hitting her fundraising target for next year's London Marathon.
