Ben was diagnosed with a brain tumour in April 2011. Following his diagnosis, CLIC Sargent provided Ben and his family with practical, emotional and financial support.

Sue Crutchley said: “CLIC Sargent were unbelievable in the help they gave nine-year-old Ben, his elder brother Luke and the whole family through the traumatic period following our son's diagnosis.

“We would like to ensure that other families going through this traumatic time are also supported.”

Since 2011, the Crutchley’s, their friends, family and colleagues have undertaken a series of events to raise funds for CLIC Sargent, including a Golf Day which raised an amazing £20,000, a coast to coast walk, triathlons, and a momentous trek up Mount Kilimanjaro.

In total, their fundraising events so far have raised over £108,000 for children and young people with cancer.

The Ben Crutchley Remember Me fund

All the money raised by the Crutchley family has been through the Ben Crutchley Remember Me fund.

CLIC Sargent's Remember Me fund is a special fund named after a loved one. The donations received are kept together as one collective total on an online fundraising page, along with messages from friends and family.

The Crutchley’s are committed to raising £1 million in memory of Ben and have a busy year of events planned, including the CLIC Sargent World Record Skydive in September, a triathlon, the RBS Paris to London bike ride and a Golf Day.

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Kiren Fernandes said: “We are delighted to have the continued support of the Crutchley’s. They have raised an extraordinary amount of money in 18 months.

“The continued support they have received from their local community, media, work colleagues and friends is a fantastic example of how local communities can come together.

“A massive thank you to Nigel and his family for everything is has done for CLIC Sargent.”
