Amy's family celebrate VE Day in style

A Staffordshire family have captured the spirit of VE Day in true community fashion, by holding a party in aid of CLIC Sargent.

Amy's family celebrate VE Day in style

The local residents of Rugeley in Staffordshire were treated to a good ol’ fashioned street party, to raise money for CLIC Sargent.

The party was organised by the family of seven-year-old Amy, who is currently receiving treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Her mum Natalie said: “We were doing it as our daughter was diagnosed with stage two neuroblastoma in October 2014 and we want to help others in need of CLIC Sargent’s support. We are so grateful for everyone who came out and made the day a success.”

The event, which was held to coincide with VE Day, saw people in spectacular 1940s outfits, listening to wartime songs, playing 'tin can alley' and 'hook a duck'.

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Anna Finnegan said: “All of this was made possible through the hard work of Amy’s mum and nan with lots of help from friends and family. It was such a fabulous idea and a great way to raise money for CLIC Sargent.”
