Annual Amy's Walk raises over £3,000

This year's annual Amy’s Walk from Wadebridge to Padstow in north Cornwall was a huge success raising £3,671.50 for CLIC Sargent's Home from Home in Bristol, Sam’s House.

Amy’s Walk takes place every year and participants walk along the scenic Camel Trail route from Wadebridge to Padstow and back again to raise money for the CLIC Sargent Home from Home, Sam's House.

CLIC Sargent has nine Homes from Home across the UK that provides free self-catered accommodation for families whilst their children receive cancer treatment at specialist hospitals nearby.

The walk, in memory of Amy Thorald, has become a highlight to the fundraising calendar for Bude residents and is always followed by a few drinks and dinner together in the evening.

Throughout the year many local businesses and members of the community have shown their support, through attending events, donating prizes and sponsoring participants.

Amy’s mother, Sue Thorold said: “A huge thank you to everyone involved and to all the businesses who have collected and raised money on our behalf. A special thank you to Jacqui Pierce who started the annual event and has spent many hours over the past few years organising the walk.”

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Stephanie Cherington-Rimmell said: “This is a fantastic example of how a community comes together each year to show their support. We are so very grateful for everyone who supported this event which is growing year on year.”
