Raising £3,000 for young cancer patients
Lucy is taking part in the Virgin Money London Marathon 2015 and has already raised an amazing £2,130 and is now aiming to hit the £3,000 mark by the end of the year. To raise money so far, Lucy has organised a range of events including a supermarket bag pack, a bake sale at work and a festive Christmas tuck shop.
Here, Lucy explains what inspired her to take part and support CLIC Sargent.
"Children are so innocent and full of life, and as adults we need to protect them in so many ways and it is heart wrenching when their lives are affected by illness.
"Cancer is not discriminative, especially in children. I feel that with more research we may one day find a cure that is affordable and available. Until then support is needed for the victims and their families and towards the implications cancer has.
"CLIC Sargent appeals to me not only because it is a national charity but also because there are treatment centres within my local community in Birmingham and Leicester."
The CLIC Sargent Running Events team is really impressed with Lucy’s enthusiasm and how active she has been with her fundraising already. It just shows how starting your fundraising and training early can really motivate you to keep going. We're sure Lucy will hit her personal fundraising target of £3,000 in no time. Well done Lucy, you’re a star!
