Mum from Baylham becomes life shaver

A mum from Baylham, near Ipswich, has become a 'life-shaver' and raised over £1,000 for CLIC Sargent by taking part in the charity's Big Buzz event.

Vikki with daughter Willow

Vikki’s sponsored head shave was held at Loose Ends Hairdressers in Needham Market and was supported by her three daughters, who even helped cut their mum’s hair themselves!

Vikki said: “Back in April 2012 my youngest daughter Willow was diagnosed with a Wilms tumour at just 13 months of age. The next few months that followed even now feel a bit or a blur.

"Throughout our time in Ipswich and Addenbrooke hospitals the care and help we received not only from the hospital staff but also CLIC Sargent was brilliant...I have decided it's time for me to give something back.

“I did feel nervous about the head shave but children and young people being treated for cancer don’t have a choice about losing their hair. I know the money is going to a fantastic cause in CLIC Sargent and that is what inspired me to go through with it.”

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Alison Ramsay said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Vikki for becoming a ‘life-shaver’ for CLIC Sargent. I think the finished result looks amazing! Vikki had aimed to raise £500 but has smashed that raising a fantastic £1,137, for which we are extremely grateful.”
