Now, Suzie, Amelia and Tracyann are getting ready for the glittering awards ceremony in London on Wednesday 11 October, and have everything crossed for a win.

Specialist care

Suzie is a CLIC Sargent Specialist Children’s Community Nurse and works with children in treatment across East Kent, leading on oncology and palliative care.

Since Amelia from Margate was diagnosed with leukaemia last year, Suzie and her team have been providing her with nursing at home. Their care, support and personal approach has made a huge difference to the Winsbury family.

Tracyann explains:

“Amelia trusts Suzie so much, she is her favourite and they have a truly special bond."

"She’s always able to put her at ease for some of the things that need doing that aren’t very nice like cleaning the port in her chest where she gets her medicine, so that it doesn’t get infected.

“Most importantly having Suzie and other CLIC Sargent Nurses visit us at home for treatment saves us a lot of time and money travelling to and from hospital. And that means we get to spend more precious time together at home as a family.”

Suzie Jamieson comments:

“It is so lovely to be nominated by Amelia and her family but I want to stress that I don’t work alone!

"I’ve accepted this nomination on behalf of each and every CLIC Sargent Nurse."

"Our jobs can be pressured at times, but we love our work. And what keeps us all going is seeing the difference we make to the children and the families we care for."
