Marks & Spencer, Abbeycentre support CLIC Sargent

On the 22 June 2012 staff at Marks & Spencer, Abbeycentre announced the launch of a new partnership with CLIC Sargent. The staff and management have set an ambitious target and hope to raise £10,000 for the charity’s Homes from Home appeal.

Wendy Loughridge, Store Manager at Marks & Spencer, Abbeycentre said; “All the staff unanimously decided to support Aidan Duffy’s CLIC Sargent Especially for You Fund which was set up in his memory. Aidan’s mum, Angela met with our staff to talk about the support she received from CLIC Sargent and the Especially For You Fund she set up to keep Aidan’s memory alive. We were so impressed by the emotional and practical support that the charity offers to local families and we are very excited about supporting this fantastic charity.”

With lots of great fundraising events already in the calendar for 2012/2013, the staff at Marks & Spencer have already taken part in the Belfast City Marathon, staff member Pat McConvey took part last weekend in the Belfast to Dublin Mara cycle and three relays have signed up for the Glenarm Triathlon on 18 July. Lots more exciting fundraising is taking place during the year.

Fionnuala Savage, Community Fundraising Manager CLIC Sargent “I am thrilled to hear that the Marks & Spencer, Abbeycentre have announced their support for CLIC Sargent. It is partnerships like this that can really make a difference to children and young people with cancer.

“This year is a big one for CLIC Sargent in Northern Ireland as we raise funds to build two new Homes from Home in Belfast. On average, families in Northern Ireland have to travel up to 95 miles, five times a week to receive the cancer treatment their child needs. The Homes from Home will ease the financial burden on families at an already stressful time.”
