Jude and her husband Brian, have taken part in a mammoth four Virgin Money London Marathons, the Great South Run, cycled a three day stretch of Land's End to John O’Groats and raised over £8,000 for CLIC Sargent along the way.
The role of a CLIC Sargent Social Worker
Jude explains: “My role as a CLIC Sargent Social Worker is really to provide emotional, practical, financial and educational support to young people. I am an advocate for them at an extremely difficult time in their lives.
"They are often feeling scared and vulnerable and afraid of what the future may bring for them.
"I am not there to represent their illness but to represent them, and enable them to realise that they are the same person after their diagnosis as they were before.
“As a CLIC Sargent Social Worker the needs of the young person are paramount and I always put them at the forefront of any work that I undertake. I consider myself to be extremely privileged to be allowed into young people’s life at such a traumatic time."
Next up for Jude and Brian is the Great South Run on 26 October. The best of luck from the CLIC Sargent Running Events team Jude – you are a star!
