Party in Powys raises £1,800

Local residents of Powys, mid Wales had ‘hwyl a sbri’ (fun and games) raising £1,840 for CLIC Sargent to help support children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Ellen Jones and two friends; Elizabeth and Christine held a fundraising evening in the Queens Head pub in Newtown last month. The evening ranged from choosing ‘CLIC Teddy’s birthday’ to holding a raffle and playing a game of bingo.

The trio raised a grand total of £1,840.50 for CLIC Sargent in support of Owen, Ellen’s grandson during his journey through childhood cancer.

Elizabeth said: “The pub was full, you couldn’t move for all the wonderful support. Local businesses were fantastic and no one said no!”

The grand total was met through the generous support of local businesses and other fun evenings such as the Ty Brith cowboy evening which raised £115 towards the total.

Hannah Worrall, CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager said: “It is so wonderful to see local communities working together for such a worthwhile cause – a huge thank you to everyone who was involved.”
