Make a Will month

This October, we’re asking local solicitors to donate their time and expertise to join our fight for young lives against cancer by helping our supporters to write or amend their Will.

Engage your local community, promote your business and get new clients – all while supporting children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Sound good?

It’s quick and easy to sign up to take part – simply fill out the registration form below and your local CLIC Sargent Fundraising Engagement Manager will be in touch.

We hope you can join us for Make a Will Month 2019. By doing so, you will be helping children and young people to see a future that isn’t defined by cancer.

Please note that by taking part in CLIC Sargent’s Make a Will Month 2019 scheme, you are agreeing to the following Terms and Conditions.

CLIC Sargent’s Make a Will Month 2019 is offered to the general public, including CLIC Sargent supporters, staff and volunteers, as a Will-writing offer.

By registering to take part, participating solicitors have agreed to prepare simple Wills, or amend existing Wills, for free. However, if the solicitor finds that the Will is more complicated, then the solicitor is entitled to ask the client to pay a fee to reflect any additional work involved (the difference between their normal fee for a simple Will and the actual fee to cover the entirety of the work involved). In these cases, solicitors are required to make the client aware of any additional costs before undertaking the work, so that the client can decide whether to proceed with the Will being written.

Participating solicitors are free to set a limit on the number of Wills they write as part of Make a Will Month 2019, to fit in with their workload and availability. Solicitors should only commit to an appointment if they have capacity to complete the Will. In some cases this may involve carrying out any outstanding work required to complete a clients Will after Make a Will Month has ended.

CLIC Sargent asks that participating solicitors respond to enquiries relating to the Make a Will Month offer as quickly as possible and carry out the Will-writing process within a reasonable timeframe.

Participating solicitors are encouraged to speak to clients that take up the offer about considering leaving a gift to CLIC Sargent, or another charity of their choice, in their Will, or to make a donation to CLIC Sargent at the time of will-writing, however the client is under no obligation to do so by taking up this offer.

Participating solicitors will be required to provide CLIC Sargent with any donation forms, feedback forms or declaration forms that have been completed by either the client or the solicitor as part of Make a Will Month. These should be provided to CLIC Sargent in a timely fashion and sent to the address provided.

CLIC Sargent would like to thank any supporters who leave a legacy in their Will and communicate with them in the future about our work and other ways they can help support our work. CLIC Sargent requires that solicitors seek consent from all clients who take up the offer before sharing personal details with us. All information supplied will be treated with the strictest confidence. CLIC Sargent will never sell or swap personal information with anyone else. More information about how we use personal information can be read here .

If producing materials to publicise the Make a Will Month offer, or the participating solicitor’s involvement in it, each party must obtain prior approval from the other party for all published material bearing the other’s brand name and/or logo.

Participating solicitors agree not to bring CLIC Sargent’s name and/or logo and the reputation of the Charity into disrepute or act in any way which could adversely affect our fundraising activities or our relations with supporters or other persons.
