Battersea Park is the perfect backdrop for this year’s event, linking multicultural central London with communities in Wandsworth, Chelsea and South London.
This year the Masroor region is organising the event in collaboration with CLIC Sargent. They hope to raise even more as the event is local to them.
The theme of this year's AMYA community and charity initiatives is 'Mercy for Mankind', a reference to the noble founder of Islam, the Prophet Muhammad, who Muslims believe to have been sent by God as a mercy for mankind.
Farooq Mirza, Chairman of the Mercy4Mankind Charity Challenge said: "We are so pleased to be holding our event at an iconic and picturesque venue in the heart of London and proud to have chosen Battersea Park where many past and present great charitable events have occurred.
"This year as part of our Mercy4Mankind theme we are working together with our partners and as such we have an alliance to support CLIC Sargent. We are proud to have them on board as the support they provide for families underpins the whole purpose of our theme of Mercy4Mankind."
Everyone is welcome to attend the MKA Challenge 10k to help raise money for children and young people with cancer, and their families. Find out more about the MKA Challenge 10k on the official website.
About the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association
This year is the 30th anniversary of AMYA’s (Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association) Charity Challenge which has so far raised more than £1 million for charitable causes.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA), a registered charity, has for decades enjoyed a reputation for serving South West London local communities and working with British charities across the region.
Last year's challenge was a 10k walk, run and cycle in Milton Keynes. More than 2,000 fundraisers attended and many more helped to raise £250,000 for the supported charities.
The event supports national charities but each region also chooses their own local charity. In 2013 the Masroor region, based in West London, chose to support CLIC Sargent at the event.
The region also took part in ITV's Text Santa appeal and helped pack shopping bags for donations. Members collected donations at stations and supermarkets across the raising a fantastic total of over £15,000!
