Face to face fundraising
CLIC Sargent uses three face to face fundraising methods: Street, Private Site and Door to Door fundraising. These are very effective fundraising methods that enable us to plan our services based on a reliable source of income. This is really important in making sure we can be there for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Face to face fundraising is a successful and cost effective way to generate income for CLIC Sargent, in which fundraisers speak to potential new supporters about the charity and ask them if they would like to set up monthly regular donations.
Regular donations, such as Direct Debits, are a cost-effective way to donate, as it lets CLIC Sargent plan ahead for the future and helps keep our administrative costs to a minimum.
CLIC Sargent work with three professional fundraising agencies for face to face fundraising: Appco UK, Capll and One Sixty.
All our agency fundraisers wear a white CLIC Sargent t-shirt and a black branded jacket.
All fundraisers will be carrying an identification badge, including the fundraiser’s name, photo and ID number. They will also be carrying a letter of authority from CLIC Sargent, as well as CLIC Sargent literature and a tablet computer.
If you are unsure about whether a fundraiser is legitimate, please contact our Supporter Engagement team on 0300 330 0803,Monday-Friday, 8am – 6pm or email supporter.services@clicsargent.org.uk.
We pay the agencies we work with based on the number of donors recruited. The agencies pay the fundraisers themselves.
Appco UK, Capll and One Sixty are our chosen partners for face to face fundraising because we know that they comply with all relevant laws and codes of practice. Fundraisers are coached by CLIC Sargent and by the agencies to ensure they are informed about our campaigns and provide an excellent quality of service.
We carefully monitor the cost of our fundraising to ensure that our return enables us to plan support for the children, young people and their families that need us.
Appco UK, Capll, One Sixty and CLIC Sargent all adhere to the regulations and Codes of Practice set out by The Fundraising Regulator. For more information please visit the Fundraising Regulator website.
Our door to door fundraisers can call up until 9pm in line with the Fundraising Regulator’s code of practice. We call until this time so we have the best chance of reaching more supporters.
If a door isn’t answered, the fundraiser may return to the property more than once. This is to ensure that the fundraisers are able to have as many conversations as possible, and to speak to anyone that might not have been home earlier in the day.
If you would rather not hear from a CLIC Sargent fundraiser in the future, please let us know and we can request that your address is added to the ‘no call lists’ at our door to door agencies. However, please be aware that other charity agencies can still knock and you will need to notify them separately.
You may also wish to contact your local council to enquire about receiving a ‘no cold calling’ window sticker from them. The fundraisers will try to adhere to that where it is visible and includes one of the following phrases: ‘no cold calling’, ‘no calling without appointment’, ‘no doorstep callers’, ‘no charity fundraisers’ and ‘no fundraising’.
