Door to door fundraising
CLIC Sargent uses door to door fundraising, which is a very effective fundraising method. It lets us plan our services based on a reliable source of income, which is really important in making sure we can be there for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Door to door fundraising is a successful and cost effective way to generate income for CLIC Sargent, in which fundraisers speak to potential new supporters about the charity and ask them if they would like to set up a monthly Direct Debit.
Direct Debits are a cost-effective way to donate, as it lets CLIC Sargent plan ahead for the future and helps keep our administrative costs to a minimum
CLIC Sargent work with two professional fundraising agencies for door to door fundraising – Appco Group Support and HOME fundraising.
Appco Group Support fundraisers wear a grey CLIC Sargent tabard. The HOME Fundraising fundraisers wear a CLIC Sargent branded black jacket and white t-shirt (see pictures of both above).
All fundraisers will be carrying an identification badge, including the fundraiser’s name, photo and ID number. They will also be carrying a letter of authority from CLIC Sargent and the Council, as well as CLIC Sargent literature and a tablet computer.
If you are unsure about whether a fundraiser is legitimate, please contact our Supporter Engagement team on 0300 330 0803 (option 2) Monday-Friday, 8am – 6pm or email email@example.com.
We pay Appco Group Support and HOME Fundraising based on the number of donors recruited. The agencies pay the fundraisers themselves.
Appco Group Support and HOME Fundraising are our chosen partners for door to door fundraising because we know that they comply with all relevant laws and codes of practice. Fundraisers are coached by CLIC Sargent and by the agencies to ensure they are informed about our campaigns and provide an excellent quality of service.
We carefully monitor the cost of our fundraising to ensure that our return enables us to plan support for the children, young people and their families that need us.
Appco Group Support, HOME Fundraising and CLIC Sargent adhere to the regulations and Codes of Practice set out by The Fundraising Regulator. For more information please visit the Fundraising Regulator website.
Our fundraisers can call up until 9pm in line with the Fundraising Regulator’s code of practice. We call until this time so we have the best chance of reaching more supporters.
If a door isn’t answered, the fundraiser may return to the property more than once. This is to ensure that the fundraisers are able to have as many conversations as possible, and to speak to anyone that might not have been home earlier in the day.
If you would rather not hear from an Appco Group Support or HOME Fundraising fundraiser in the future, please let us know and we can request that your address is added to the ‘no call lists’. However, please be aware that other agencies can still knock and you will need to notify them separately.
You may also wish to contact your local council to enquire about receiving a ‘no cold calling’ window sticker from them. The fundraisers will try to adhere to that where it is visible and includes one of the following phrases: ‘no cold calling’, ‘no calling without appointment’, ‘no doorstep callers’, ‘no charity fundraisers’ and ‘no fundraising’.
