Last year, CLIC Sargent helped around 7,100 young cancer patients and their families with treatment at home, free accommodation next to hospitals and financial support. This is all thanks to the dedication of our wonderful supporters. But we know we aren’t yet doing enough. We want to ensure all young cancer patients and their families receive the support they need from CLIC Sargent, for as long as they need it.
Abbey’s son Fraser is currently undergoing treatment for leukaemia. Along with an ever growing team of family and friends, Abbey has decided to take on this year’s Thames Path Challenge.
She said: "CLIC Sargent chose to support my family when we were lost and broken and didn't know where to turn."

How your money can help
From the moment the doctor says it’s cancer, unexpected costs can mount up quickly, such as travel to hospitals, car parking, and extra bills.
Our recent Cancer Costs report found that on average parents spend £600 extra per month. Many parents are also forced to give up work and can be plunged into debt as a consequence of their child’s cancer.
We believe that families should not have to face financial hardship because their child has cancer. This year, we’ve set ourselves the epic Ultra Series 2017
fundraising target of £75,000. This could pay for:
- 18 CLIC Sargent nurses, who provide specialist care nationally and locally, for one month
- Over 400 families to receive our £170 grant, provided upon diagnosis, to help stop cancer costs spiralling
- 75 families to stay in one of our 10 Homes from Home for one month
CLIC's Home from Home accommodation is amazing - it's free, it's near the hospitals and the housekeeping staff are so very kind and supportive.
