The Cupcakes Cycle to Paris

The Cupcakes team took on the CLIC Sargent London to Paris cycle in memory of Rebecca. Read and watch their story.

In Rebecca’s memory

At 18 months old, Shauna Hayes’ niece Rebecca was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Sadly Rebecca died. CLIC Sargent was on hand to offer emotional, financial and practical support to the whole family during her cancer treatment and beyond.

To remember Rebecca and as a thank you to CLIC Sargent for supporting her family, Shauna decided to take on a challenge to raise money for children with cancer. After talking to friends, the Cupcakes team was formed and they were to embark on the exclusive CLIC Sargent London to Paris Cycle Challenge 2011.

The Cupcakes set off

After months of training and fundraising, the Cupcakes - Shauna, Helen, Sarah and Stephanie left Blackheath Common in London with the other cyclists on 21 September 2011 to head off on their fantastic French adventure. Three days later and still smiling, the women crossed the finish line having cycled over 300 miles. The team raised a brilliant £6,640 for CLIC Sargent.

Cupcakes support continues

But they didn’t stop there! Since completing the cycle challenge, their employer Royal Bank of Scotland has recognised their achievement and were awarded £250 as the corporate division winners of the ‘Community Stars’ Award. They are now in with a chance of winning the next stage and a further £1,000 for CLIC Sargent.

Thank you Cupcakes!
