Everyone has different reasons for supporting CLIC Sargent. Here are a few of our supporters' stories saying why they have chosen to remember us in their Wills.
“I have been a supporter for many years since my daughter Kate was diagnosed with leukaemia when she was 16 years old.
"We were supported by a CLIC Sargent Nurse in Truro who was amazing and supported Kate when she lost her hair and also liaised with Kate’s school to make sure they understood her needs.
"Kate also had to undertake radiotherapy at Bristol and we were able to stay in a CLIC Sargent Home from Home so we could stay with her.
"Kate is now grown up and travelled the world and has given us a grandson. CLIC Sargent were there for all of us. I have made donations ever since and when I changed my Will recently, I was happy to include a gift to the charity.”
“My friend’s daughter was diagnosed with bone cancer when she was just 14 years old. So I saw first hand just how devastating it was for the whole family.
"I was struck by all the support offered by CLIC Sargent and have had huge admiration for their work ever since. I’ve decided to help CLIC Sargent in my Will because there will always be families like Elaine’s who would struggle to cope without them.”
"When our grandson was diagnosed with cancer in both eyes at eight months old, the help we received from CLIC Sargent was a lifeline.
"They were there for him and his parents at the hospital and at his schools, although he did eventually lose one eye.
"He is now 18 years old and training to enable him to become a sports teacher in schools. He enjoys kick boxing and is a very good goalkeeper which is quite an achievement with only one eye.
"We are very proud of him and our family will always we grateful for the support we received."
“I started supporting the charity as a thank you for all the many hours of pleasure Sir Malcolm Sargent had given me at The Proms from 1958 to his last performance in 1967.
"Then when my son died from Hodgkins disease I realised again just what a great cause your chrity is and this renewed my efforts, hence my bequest in my Will. Sir Malcolm was a great man and it is truly fitting that he is remembered in this way."
