A big motivation
"Initially I signed up to the Brighton Marathon because I saw first-hand how cancer had effected Aaron’s life whilst at university and beyond, and I wanted to do something in support of my mate"
"Within a couple of days of signing up to the marathon, I found out that Aaron's cancer was terminal, and around a month later he passed away, so it became a much bigger thing for me in a short amount of time, and has made me even more determined to do it in memory of Aaron.
"Motivation hasn't been a problem for me so far, the fact so many people have sponsored me and are supporting me really helps me get on with it when I don't feel like running"
CLIC Sargent was there for him
"I asked Aaron which charities had been the most useful to him and he mentioned CLIC Sargent.
"Without the financial support they provided, he wouldn't have been able to pay his rent for the year and complete his university degree. Due to his cancer, he couldn't complete his final year exams with the rest of us, and the university offered him an honorary pass.
"He decided he wouldn't take that, and instead wanted to complete his final year properly, so had an extra year at university and achieved a 2:1, whilst having radiotherapy at the same time. Without CLIC Sargent he wouldn't have been able to do this.
"I know they were there for him from the very start of his diagnosis providing support, to the end, and even now his mum is still meeting with Aaron's CLIC Sargent nurse for emotional support.
A huge inspiration
"When my legs are tired on the day I will think of Aaron. If he can go through what he went through and keep the same spirit and humour throughout, then I am definitely going be able to finish this race.
"One of the last things I said to him before he passed away was a promise that I will finish the race for him.
"Aaron said he couldn't 'wait to see Danny Snow crawling over that finish line'. So even if I am crawling or limping over the line, I will do it.
"Aaron was a really good friend of mine, and his bravery and attitude throughout it all is something that I will never forget and will continue to inspire myself and many other people."
