A group of volunteers from Coventry have been carrying out bucket collections for the last few months in their local supermarkets, raising a fantastic £5,157 for children and young people with cancer.
From March to May 2015, Coventry-based volunteer Steve Thakor has spent every spare moment organising bucket collections in his local supermarkets to raise funds for CLIC Sargent.
With the help of a group of women, some volunteering after they saw the work that Steve was doing, and some from Coventry University, they managed to raise a phenomenal amount in just a few months.
Impressed by their fundraising, the Lord Mayor of Coventry Michael Hammon attended the cheque presentation to congratulate all involved.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Lydia Buckmaster said: “A huge thank you to Steve and everyone involved, whether providing the space for the collection, holding a bucket or donating whatever change you had.
"The original target they set themselves was £1,000 and they have completely excelled themselves. Congratulations to all!”
