Dippers raise over £600
Over 60 participants from Cornwall, Leeds, Coventry, Hertford, Devon, Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Bromley and Cwmbran turned up at Newquay Harbour on New Year's Day to take part in the annual dip for CLIC Sargent.
The weather was windy but very little of the forecasted rain affected the spectators who turned out to support the dippers. So far over £600 has been raised with lots of sponsor money to come in to add to that total.
Hannah Eustice from the Newquay Volunteer Fundraising Group said: “Thank you to our wonderful helpers, who served bacon butties and hot drinks, registered the dippers and make the event run smoothly and to Newquay Rowing Club for the use of their facilities.
Special mention should go to those wore your fancy dress including a sheikh, Spiderman and Hawaiian themed outfits to name but a few.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Stephanie Cherington-Rimmell said: “This event is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our Newquay Volunteer Fundraising Group, what a successful way to see in 2014!
"Thank you to all those who took part and helped make the event such a success.”
