This month staff from two of our corporate partners, J D Wetherspoon and Santander, were supporting the Northern Ireland Homes from Home Appeal by taking part in a Big Sleep In, to highlight the challenges that families can face whilst away from home comforts and their loved ones when a child or young person is in hospital.
The Homes from Home Appeal aims to build two specialist homes for the families of children, teenagers and young adults that are undergoing a cancer treatment at one of Belfast’s principal treatment centres.
On Friday 4 October staff from all nine J D Wetherspoon pubs in Northern Ireland were once again doing a 24 hours sleep-in at their pub and this year they’ve raised the fantastic sum of £3,891. To date J D Wetherspoon in Northern Ireland has raised over £75,000 for the appeal towards their £100,000 target.
On Thursday 17 October Santander staff in Belfast also grabbed their sleeping bags, pillows and their favourite PJs as they took part in a Big Sleep In at Santander’s head office to raise money for the Homes from Home Appeal.
The Big Sleep In event formed part of a week long programme of activity organised by the Santander staff charity committee in support of CLIC Sargent, including a pub quiz and live music in their staff restaurant. Santander staff in Belfast raised over £10,000 through their week of fundraising.
