Around 45 young people involved in the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM), will be performing at a Christmas Concert on 6 December in support of CLIC Sargent.
The concert is being held at the Salvation Army Hall in Shipley and will include performances by members of Abbey Grange C of E Academy, the Grammar School at Leeds and Horsforth Music Centre .
ISM regional councilor, Graham Phillips says: “We chose CLIC Sargent due to its close links with Sir Malcolm Sargent, the conductor, as he was the past President of the ISM.
Graham adds: “As the concert very much involves music performed by children and young people, it also seemed fitting to have a children’s charity as the beneficiary. There is often bad press around teenagers and I think it’s a shame that the great things that many teenagers are doing doesn’t always get the attention it deserves.”
The students have been rehearsing since September and the concert includes a great selection of traditional Christmas carols, chamber music by Mozart and Badelt’s Pirates of the Caribbean.
Tickets are £8 for adults, £5 concession and £3 for children under 16 years. All proceeds will go directly to supporting children and young people with cancer.
