Staff and customers at The George in Charmouth have rallied together to raise a fantastic £2,065 for children and young people with cancer.
The owner of The George, Dean Herbert, recently presented the donation to CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Joy Morley.
Over the year, Dean and his colleague Linda have rallied together their locals, and encouraged their annual holiday visitors to save up their five pence pieces to donate to a charity box.
They have also donated their weekly meet draw funds to ensure children and young people supported by CLIC Sargent can live their lives to the full.
Pub owner Dean Herbert said: “We had a lot of fun supporting CLIC Sargent and it felt great to do something for a charity that does so much for others.”
Dean and Linda visited the CLIC Sargent charity shop in Weymouth and advised staff they had chosen to support CLIC Sargent during 2015.
To maximise their support they also arranged a very successful bingo night, quiz night and an Easter raffle, as well as holding fun games throughout the year to help reach their total.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Joy Morley said: “It is so wonderful to hear a local business wants to support the work that we do to help children, young people and their families.
“We really appreciate the support that Linda and Dean have given us, and I really want to extend my thanks to The George’s customers for getting into the spirit of fundraising.”
