Bowled over by the Chelmsford & District Bowling Association

During his year as President of the Chelmsford & District Bowling Association, Mick Etridge has helped raised over £500 in support of CLIC Sargent.

Mick wanted to help make a difference during his year of office after a family friend was supported by the charity. Throughout the year, whenever an association match took place a collection was held to raise funds.

Mick said: "We are very proud to have been able to help in this small way and we take this opportunity to thank the members of the Chelmsford and District Bowling Association for their contributions over the last year."

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Karen Roberts was presented with a cheque for £565 by the association.

She said: "It gives me great pleasure to accept this donation on behalf of CLIC Sargent. During 2013 CLIC Sargent supported 235 families in Essex alone with many of those families having to travel to London for their treatment.

"£460 could pay for a family to stay in Paul’s House, a CLIC Sargent Home from Home in London providing free self-catering accommodation. Staying in a Home from Home ensures a family can be close to their child during treatment.

"We rely on donations from the general public to be able to provide this vital support so we are extremely grateful to Mick for choosing to support CLIC Sargent and the members of the association for raising such a fantastic amount."
