On Monday 19 December those staying in CLIC House, along with local families on treatment and on the ward, will be invited to a Christmas party. Santa will be making a special guest appearance to meet everyone and will be giving Christmas presents in the transformed living room grotto.
All of this is made possible by CLIC Sargent’s generous corporate sponsors and volunteers. This year Iceland and Morrisons have donated vouchers to help purchase the Christmas food. J D Wetherspoon are also providing fresh food on the day, and presents for the children will be generously provided by Bristol Motor Club.
Whilst Christmas is a time of celebration, for those staying in a Home from Home it can be very challenging so CLIC Sargent staff ensure there are still quiet spaces for families who need it and make sure everyone has the ability to choose when, or if, to take part.
30th birthday celebrations
This year marks the 30th anniversary of CLIC House opening, and in November the milestone was marked with a lovely afternoon tea party that saw staff and families get together to celebrate.
CLIC House, one of two Homes from Home in Bristol, is three Grade-II listed Victorian properties providing 15 bedrooms for families of children being treated for all cancers at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
In 2015/16 there were 153 family stays at CLIC House, lasting an average of 45 days.
Children and young people with cancer often have to have specialist treatment many miles from home. It costs CLIC Sargent £33 to enable a family to stay close to their child at a CLIC Sargent Home from Home for one night.
Help stop cancer costing Christmas this December by donating online today or text GIVE to 70030 to donate £5.* Thank you.
*The £5 donation will be added to your next phone bill, plus your standard network text charge. For more information see our T&Cs.
100% of your donation will be received by CLIC Sargent, Registered Charity No: 1107328 and Scotland SC039857.
