On 5 October Newquay seafront played host to spectacular ball gowns, tuxedos and some very generous cheque books as the annual Newquay Ball raised over £6,500 for CLIC Sargent.
The event began with Bucks Fizz followed by a fantastic four course meal. There was plenty to keep guests entertained from a table quiz to the main auction. Guests were then able to enjoy the music of the Mike Collins Disco and Devonian band the A38s.
Hannah Eustice, voluntary fundraising group member said: “We had fantastic support again from local businesses. The auction was exciting and we had a range wonderful prizes including beautiful pictures from local artists, a huge sheepskin rug from Celtic and Co, a range of Cornish holidays, theatre tickets, hampers and many other items.
"Many thanks to all those who helped make the evening such a success.”
Auctioneers Brian, Jon and Bradley Start, of Start and Co. Newquay, kept the guests on their toes with quick and witty sales techniques, ensuring that everyone joined in the fun to raise some serious money for CLIC Sargent.
Stephanie Cherington-Rimmell, Cornwall Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent said: “It was a truly fantastic event, everyone worked so hard to make the rooms look beautiful and all the guests had a wonderful time.
"I would like to thank Hannah, Nigel and all who helped bring the event together making it a fabulous night for all. Last year the fundraising group raised over £20,000 from various events. This year I think they will do even better!”
The next event organised by the fundraising group will be Dip for CLIC at Newquay Harbour on New Years Day.
