When Christy Griffiths passed away last year her best friend’s mum, Rachel Stead, wanted to do something amazing in her memory.
Christy and her family were supported by CLIC Sargent, so Rachel decided to raise money to help other families in a similar position.
Rachel organised a clairvoyant event, sent the word out to her local community, and even received some raffle prizes from Spar.
A huge success
The evening proved a terrific success, raising over £500 for children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Rachel said: “What a night we had! We sold out and made a great deal on the raffle.
"I hoped to raise about £300 but we blew that right out of the water and we managed a fantastic £510.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Hannah Worrall said: “It’s clear that Christy was incredibly important to a lot of people, and this event was such a touching way to remember her.
“It’s also fantastic that it was so successful too, so well done Rachel!”
