In celebration of CLIC Sargent’s Wig Wednesday, the Big Wig Gig took place on 21 May 2014 at Brick Lane’s 93 Feet East to rave reviews from the packed out audience.
The free comedy and music event was put on to raise awareness for Wig Wednesday, CLIC Sargent's flagship campaign. Wig Wednesday unites the UK in a festival of wig-wearing to help raise awareness for children and young people with cancer.
Expertly compered by Lenny Beige, there was a fantastic selection of acts throughout the evening including a brilliant performance from critically acclaimed double act Cardinal Burns. The attending audience became a sea of hairstyles as everyone donned their new looks.
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Olivia Pumphrey said: “The Big Wig Gig was a great success from beginning to end.
"We’d like to thank all the artists who generously donated their time, and everyone who came along to support the event. The feedback we’ve had has been absolutely fantastic - we’re already looking to make next year’s event even bigger!”
Helen Thomas, who attended the gig, said: "The Big Wig Gig was a fantastic way to celebrate Wig Wednesday and raise money to support children and young people with cancer.
"People really got into the spirit of the day, showing their creativity with some brilliant wigs on display, while the great range of acts kept everyone entertained.”
