Tickets are now on sale for charity CLIC Sargent’s Christmas Celebration fundraiser at London’s Royal Albert Hall, billed as a festive treat for all the family.
At the event on 7 December X-Factor blues and soul sensation Melanie Masson heads up an evening of singers and variety acts who are donating their time and talent to raise money for CLIC Sargent’s work supporting children and young people with cancer.
Joining Melanie at the iconic venue is singer Tom Billington, The Beatbox Collective, energetic dance troupe Urban Strides and West End Kids - a 1,500 strong children’s choir.
Melanie is best known for her powerhouse performances on series 9 of ITV's X- Factor, amazing the judges and public with her cover of Janis Joplin's 'Cry Baby', and reaching the live shows under the mentorship of Gary Barlow. She is currently recording her new album, due for release in 2017.
Melanie Masson said:
“I am so excited to be able to sing on stage at the Royal Albert Hall with a choir of 1,500 children to support this amazing and very important charity."
“CLIC Sargent is a vital organisation and I am truly amazed by the support and care they give.
“I'm honoured to be involved, support the charity, and be part of this special, joyous, festive concert. It's going to be a truly special night and will raise funds to enable CLIC Sargent to continue their wonderful work.
Jazz and opera singer Lydia Haynes from St. Albans who feared she’d never sing again after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2011, aged 16, is also set to take centre stage for the charity that supported her family through her treatment.
Lydia Haynes said:
“As the cancer was so close to my vocal chords I was told there was a chance I would never speak again never mind sing, which was devastating.
“But I beat cancer, I’m singing better than ever, and it means so much to be performing at the Royal Albert Hall to help raise money for CLIC Sargent, so that they can help other families like mine.”
CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. It provides clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life.
Charity CLIC Sargent’s Christmas Celebration takes place at The Royal Albert Hall on 7 December from 7pm – 9pm. Tickets are priced between £30 and £60, available via SEE Tickets and the Royal Albert Hall: www.clicsargent.org.uk/christmascelebration
