Global asset manager MFS Investment Management is to sponsor Wig Wednesday 2014 – a fundraising campaign by CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people.
The London office of the international firm is backing this year’s event and employees will be taking part in the event on May 21 by wearing wigs for the day.
Wig Wednesday aims to raise funds for CLIC Sargent by encouraging people across the country to be sponsored to wear wigs for the day, while also showing support for children and young people who may have lost their hair through treatment for cancer.
“We are proud to sponsor Wig Wednesday 2014 and are committed to helping support children and young people with cancer through our partnership with CLIC Sargent,” said John Reilly, MFS Investment Management Global Director of Corporate Citizenship.
“This is a fantastic campaign and in addition to sponsoring the event, MFS employees will be showing their support by getting involved and wearing wigs on Wig Wednesday.”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Campaigns Manager Katie Turton said: “We’re incredibly grateful for MFS Investment Management’s sponsorship of this year’s campaign. Wig Wednesday is in its third year and has already proved to be a hugely successful fundraising event for CLIC Sargent with companies up and down the UK choosing to take part by asking their employees to get a wig on!
“Every day ten children and young people are diagnosed with cancer and fundraising events like Wig Wednesday help CLIC Sargent continue and expand our work providing practical, financial and emotional support to families whose lives have been turned upside down.”
