Walking with a smile

On 28 September Nikki Walker from Rochford walked 26.2 miles through the night in London. She was fundraising for Joseph Bowen's Especially For You fund in support of CLIC Sargent.

Walking with a smile

Nikki started walking at 9pm and finished at 5am, a total of 8 hours setting a personal best, she did it 2 hours quicker than the previous year!

Nikki said: "Joseph was only 6 months old when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and throughout his treatment he has never stopped cracking his gorgeous little smile. On the 20 April Joseph had his last bout of chemo and when the walking got hard over the last few miles I got through it thinking of Joseph and what he had been through. His inspiration and thinking of his smile helped me get to the end with a smile too."

Karen Roberts, CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager said: "Joseph not only inspired Nikki to walk the distance of a marathon quicker than she did last year but also to smash through the fundraising target she set herself of £1,000 and raise a fantastic £1,340 through sponsorship, a cake sale and a raffle. In 2012 CLIC Sargent supported 198 families like Joseph's in Essex alone and it is thanks to people like Nikki and her supporters that we were able to do this."
