Over 250 people participated in the 12th annual Gerard Logue Memorial 5K run and walk on the first Sunday of May, and helped to raise £7,430 for CLIC Sargent.
Gerard Logue, a sports loving young man, died just a day before his 19th birthday in April 2004. Every year since the family have organised a 5K run and walk in his memory and this year's event saw the largest turnout in years, in their home city of Derry~Londonderry.
The money raised will go into the Gerard Logue's Memorial Fund which has been set up by Gerard’s family in aid of CLIC Sargent.
Paddy, Gerard's father, said: "We’d like to thank everyone for their support over the years and we are already planning next year's event as we speak!"
A fantastic day
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Gareth McElduff said: "It was a fantastic day with both the 5k run and walk, and the prize draw at the Iona Inn later that night, both seeing massive support from friends, family and locals from right across the city."
"I was made feel so welcome and heard and seen just how much the Logue family and friends have supported CLIC Sargent not just this year, but for over a decade through fundraising and raising awareness of the charity in the City of Derry~Londonderry, we can’t thank them enough."
