Nigel and Sue Crutchley have raised over £31,000 at the recent Mells 10k run in memory of their son Ben, bringing their fundraising total to an amazing £205,000!
Ben died in February 2012 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011. CLIC Sargent helped support Ben and his family throughout his cancer journey and now they are determined to reach a £1 million fundraising goal to help other children and young people with cancer.
Ben's parents, Nigel and Sue, organised the Mells 10k on 11 October as their latest fundraising effort. 113 participants ran, cycled and walked the 10k track through the grounds of the Mells Park Estate raising over £31,000.
Nigel said: “Sue and I were delighted with how the event went and were really touched by how much support we were given in organising it.
“From the Midsomer Norton and Radstock Lions marshalling the roads, the local Scouts marshalling in the estate, running clubs lending us signs; everyone was so generous.
"This was only matched by the generosity of everyone who made a donation. We are so pleased that this event raised over £31,000 for CLIC Sargent in memory of Benny.”
Nearly a quarter of the way there!
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, Kiren Fernandes, said: "On behalf of CLIC Sargent, I'd like to thank Nigel, his family and all of the fantastic supporters who ran and supported this event.
”Nigel and Sue's total now sits at an amazing £205,000 for CLIC Sargent. This fundraising has made an impact all across CLIC Sargent. The £31,000 the Mells 10k has raised will take them one step closer to his target of £1 million.”
CLIC Sargent could not continue to support families in South West and all over the UK without the support of individuals like Nigel and Sue."
