Kim Baker and son Nick, who is currently being supported by CLIC Sargent following a Hodgkin Lymphoma diagnosis in December 2015, have raised an amazing £1,320 through a sponsored walk with friends and family in Kent.
The group set out early, donning their most colourful wigs and CLIC Sargent gear, to walk over 12 miles in just four hours in Bedgebury’s National Pinetum.
Kim Baker said: “Following our son Nick's diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma back in December 2015, our lives were turned upside down and we didn't know where to turn.
“CLIC Sargent have helped Nick financially as well as physically, and if they could not answer any of our questions they would find out the answer and get back to us.
“Nick decided to try and give them back some of the money they gave him as a big thank you, so we chose to do a sponsored walk.
“We really cannot thank them enough for the support they have given us and hope that they can continue to keep up the good work for as many patients as possible.
“They really are an amazing charity"
CLIC Sargent Social Worker Charlotte has been supporting the Baker family since Nick was diagnosed with cancer in late 2015.
An absolute pleasure
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Verity Gallagher said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to support Kim with her sponsored walk. The day was a real success and it's down to her hard work in putting it together.
“Over the past few months I feel we have developed a strong bond and it was truly amazing to see the support from all her of friends and family too”
