Storm Troopers took to showcasing a few specially choreographed dance moves all across the terminal and they also ‘invaded’ Manchester Airports Group (MAG) headquarters at Olympic House to increase sales to support CLIC Sargent.
Alexandra Burke, security duty manager and one of the cake sale organisers, said: “It was an amazing team effort and achievement.”
Alexandra and Jodie are part of ‘MAG Skywalkers Team 1’ - just one of the teams at Manchester Airport who have embarked on fundraising for CLIC Sargent as part of a corporate partnership, which was launched in December 2015.
Team Administrator Jodie said: “Thank you to everyone that contributed to the cake sale and Debbie’s Bacon Butties, from people that took the time to bake amazing cakes, the terminal teams that assisted in the setting up and organisation of the event, and to everyone that came along and purchased some goodies.
“It was a fantastic day with some amazing outfits but some questionable dance moves!”
CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Maria Healy said: "The day was so successful because so many people put in a lot of effort – from bringing in cakes, giving up their time to help out and contributing to such a fun event.
“The Skywalkers have done brilliantly and really set the bar high for cake sales.
“I'd like to thank everyone for their sheer enthusiasm, without people like them, we wouldn't be able to provide support for children and their families in Manchester.”
The next big challenge for the team is the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, taking place on 4 June. The amount raised at the cake sale has doubled their fundraising efforts, so far taking their total up to over £2,300.
